About CC101

Ok... I wasn't going to create a blog.  I felt there were already so many out there and what could I add to the pot that hadn't already been chewed over. So, when I started my cooking school, The Cooking Coach 101 in September 2010, I said I was just going to do a website and Facebook page.  Who has time for more than that, anyway?  But before long, as interest in what I was doing grew, I had to face the fact that I was asking way too much of my Facebook page.  Trying to answer the many questions I was getting, I realized I might have something to say after all.  It was time for me to create a place where I could express my thoughts on cooking, answer questions in more detail, post more photographs and recipes I love, and talk about what I do.

The Cooking Coach 101 is a mobile cooking school. I teach mainly beginners and those that need help overcoming various bad habits or just need to get out of the same old meal ruts.
I come to your home; we work in your kitchen and learn all the basics, like kitchen organization, how to shop for quality ingredients, stocking a pantry and fridge, purchasing proper cookware, learning basic knife skills and cuts and all the basic cooking and baking techniques that are useful in our busy lives.  I cover entertaining and food presentation as well as customizing the program to your lifestyle and dietary needs.

I call myself the Cooking Coach, because just like a personal trainer or life coach, I want to teach and inspire new cooks to do something I believe will help provide a better quality of life for them and for those that they love. I do my best to help wisk their sagging culinary skills and muscles into excellent shape.  The 101 denotes that this is generally for beginners and that there is one on one training involved.  People ask me all the time if I have a passion for cooking and I say no.  I would describe it more as a deep and everlasting love and I want so much for others to have that same feeling about it.  I don't want you to think of cooking as a chore any longer but as a creative and relaxing activity - something to look forward to when you wake up in the morning or at the end of a long busy day.  So have a glass of wine, turn on your favorite music and get cooking.  :)
